Second Harvest Heartland: Summer Meals

Big Hearts. Big Imaginations. Big Impact.

When Preston Spire called us in, they wanted something small, simple, and fun to help Second Harvest connect with kids and families. We believed in the cause so much that we invested half of our time pro bono, pouring extra energy into making something little feel big.

We leaned into childlike creativity—paper, pencils, and imagination—to build a campaign that feels as if a kid had a hand in making it. From a big-headed doodle kid chomping down giant grapes like Pac-Man (a studio favorite!) to quirky hand-drawn cycles of walking, talking, and eating, the result was a visual style that’s fun, approachable, and full of heart.

Concept Development

We tapped into the universal toolkit of childhood—paper, pencils, and a big imagination. From the first frame, we wanted kids to see themselves in the story. So we created quirky hand-drawn characters, like the big-headed kid munching on giant food (the grapes were everyone’s favorite!), giving the animations a playful, Pac-Man-meets-lunchbox vibe.

The animations were traditional 2D, timed on 2s and 3s, and enhanced with motion graphics to give the stick-figure world a fun, modern energy. Every chomp, shuffle, and doodle helped bring the message home: Second Harvest is here to make sure no kid goes hungry.
