Subaru: “Moment of Silence” VFX Case Study

Subaru wanted to make an impact with this spot by highlighting their award-winning safety features. By focusing on a quiet moment where a father contemplates his family’s potential fate in the wake of a recent car accident, Subaru brings focus to and often-overlooked yet still very important aspect of car design and construction: crash safety.
We found the finished spot to a powerful reminder of what’s truly important. 
 
Gasket’s contribution to this spot was to help integrate the prop demolished car into the scene by adding a rapidly-spreading oil spill coming from underneath the wreckage as well as incorporating more debris around the crash. It is a subtle but important effect that brings the scene into stark reality.
